No longer 9 but 10 AVA’s

March 9, 2009

I recently wrote that Washington has 9 American Viticulture Areas….  I’ve been corrected….We actually have 10!  On February 20, 2009 Snipes Mountain was recognized as Washington’s newest AVA.  Snipes Mountain encompasses 4,145-acres in the Yakima Valley and joins the more popular Rattlesnake Ridge and Red Mountain AVA’s in the area.
