Passport to Woodinville’s Savoir-Faire
A wine event that sells out? Only in Woodinville. Over 32 wineries served wine to the sophisticates and the barely legal. The sold out two day event started Saturday, April 12. with amazing weather, limos, buses, fancy cars and a ton of people enjoying some of Washington’s finest wines.
This picture is in front of two of the newest wineries Adams Bench and Hollywood Hill Vineyard. Adams Bench offers specially crafted Cabernet and Cab blends. Hollywood Hill Vineyards is blazing trails in Woodinville by not only making fine wines but by also growing grapes right there on the hill. The incredible Chardonnay offered at their tasting was made from the grapes growing to the South of the picturesque private drive to the winery.
Of the many notable wineries featured a bit of irony was noted while tasting at Northwest Totem Cellars Late Harvest . They make a Late Harvest Voignier that is almost a perfect blend of a sweet and delicate dessert wine. And this is made by a former Olympic swim coach. Yeah, Mike the winemaker is a former Olympic swim coach. In fact his buddies pouring during the weekend were all former Olympic coaches and athletes. So, I can only imagine Mike getting to the perfection of his wines by saying ….100 more laps, breath, kick, turn…..
