Puget Sound Terroir
Welcome to the NW Wine & Real Estate blog. The two merge at the “terroir “which is the complete set of local conditions in which a particular wine or family of wines is produced, including soil-type, weather conditions, topography and wine-making savoir-faire.
The Puget Sound region is ideal for growing cool climate grapes and is in an AVA that was established in 1995.
The Real Estate part of this blog covers the property associated with the Puget Sound AVA which can run up to the crests of the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges and the low lands in between. ….and then I think there are opinions and variations in between. But there is a lot of land and real estate to cover. Unfortunately, much of it has been developed but there are great opportunities for commercial grape growers and backyard hobbyist and there is growing interest!
